This striped Amazigh (Berber) pillow is a subtle homage to Tunisian tradition, crafted from artisanal linen woven in Kairouan and hand-embroidered by Tilli Tanit's team of master embroiderers in Mahdia, a coastal city that once served as the first capital of the Fatimid Caliphate, which stretched across North Africa from 909–1171 The geometric stripes are drawn from the visual language of the Amazigh, the indigenous people of North Africa, who supported expansion of the Fatimid Caliphate. At 12" x 26", it works equally well on a sofa or bed, bringing quiet, graphic elegance to a space. On its own, it brings texture and contrast to a space; with its story, it becomes something more—an object shaped by place, craft, and time.
