His effort narrowly eclipsed Tickford rival Cam Waters’ impressive 2:04.2173s to claim the top spot. The result marked Kostecki’s third consecutive Bathurst 1000 pole after his 2023 and 2024 successes with Erebus Motorsport — an extraordinary feat that sees him join legends Peter Brock (1977–1979) and Allan Moffat (1970–1972) as only the third driver in history to achieve the hat-trick.
