Coming off the back of 3 consecutive Supercars Championship crowns in 2018, 2019 and 2020, 2021 saw McLaughlin make the big transition to full time IndyCar racing in the United States of America. Considering McLaughlin’s limited open wheel racing experience, it would be very hard to argue that his first season in IndyCar wasn’t a success. While openly admitting that he needed to better maximise his efforts during qualifying, his general race craft and speed was very good and ultimately won himself both the Indy 500 and IndyCar Rookie of the Year honours. McLaughlin raced a variety of different liveries across the 2021 season, with this red and white DEX Imaging colour scheme the 2nd livery he raced that year – and would ultimately be the same colours he enjoyed his first pole and win racing in the category the following year at the same venue. This model joins the sleek, eye-catching pink and white CarShop livery along with the PPG and Pennzoil Indy 500 liveries from the 2021 season which we have previously released in this 1:18 Scale Signature Edition range. Presented on Firestone alternate tyres, visually differentiated by red sidewalls, this 2021 DEX Imaging IndyCar model has been produced in a limited edition of 504 and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by McLaughlin.
